The purpose of our existence in this world is to attain the pleasure of Allah by worshipping Him. We can do many things to please Allah Almighty, but some actions are more beloved to Him than others.

In this article, we will be showing you the six types of people whom Allah loves the most:

  • Those who are God-conscious (Al-Muttaqin)

Al-muttaqi is a person who has taqwa (God-consciousness), one who “lives in awe of Allah Almighty’s Majesty, fears disobeying Him, and is fully conscious of the consequences of sin.”

He constantly seeks to please Allah by adhering to His commands and avoiding anything that goes against His will.

Al-muttaqin are always mindful of Allah’s instructions and make every effort to obey Him with sincerity and devotion.

To become a Muttaqi, one must maintain unwavering faith in Allah, follow His instructions, and consistently exhibit patience and perseverance in pursuing righteousness.

When we make a sincere effort to embody the characteristics of Al-muttaqi, we are promised great rewards from Allah both in this life and the hereafter.

Allah says

{بَلَىٰ مَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِ وَاتَّقَىٰ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ}

(interpretation of the meaning), “Indeed, whoever fulfills his commitments and is cautious—Allah loves those who fear Him.”

[Quran, 3:76]

Allah loves
  • Those who purify themselves (Al-Mutatahhirin)

In Islamic tradition, Taharah (purification) holds great significance, both for the physical and spiritual aspects.

It is considered necessary before performing certain acts of worship, such as prayer (salat) or laying hands on the Holy Quran.

Islam emphasizes cleanliness not just as a desirable attribute but as a necessity.

The most important thing is that Allah Almighty shows love towards those who purify themselves from sin, and wudu (ablution) is a means of purification that cleanses us from our sins.

Therefore, Muslims are mandated to maintain their hygiene by ensuring the cleanliness of their bodies, clothing, and surroundings.

By striving for purity in both body and soul, Muslims can lead a life that is pleasing to Allah Almighty.

Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, passed by two graves and said:

“Indeed they are being punished, but for something which seemed trivial to them: this one used not to guard himself from urine; whereas the other was used to tale-bearing.” He requested a green leaf of a palm branch, split it into two halves, and put a half on each grave. He then said, “Hopefully their punishment will be lightened until they (the branches) become dry.”

[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Allah loves
  • Those who rely on Allah (Al-Mutawakkilin)

Al-Wakeel is one of the names of Allah Almighty which means the Disposer of Affairs.

We should apply tawakkul (reliance on God), or trust in Allah, in our daily lives.

This means believing that Allah Almighty is in control of everything and that we can only do what is in our human reach.

However, tawakkul does not mean that we do not work hard or try our best, Allah has decreed that we must work, and He will give us success when we strive.

We should still work hard and strive to achieve our goals, keeping in mind that Allah Almighty will help us succeed.

If we apply tawakkul in our daily lives, we will find that it brings us peace and rest, even during challenges.

Allah says:

{وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا}

(interpretation of the meaning) “And put your trust in Allah. Allah is enough as a trustee.”

[Quran, 33:3]

Allah loves
  • Those who repent (At-Tawwabin)

Allah Almighty is the Most Kind and Most Merciful. He forgives those who repent, no matter how great their sins.

When we repent, we turn away from our sins and turn to Allah. We ask for His forgiveness and promise not to sin again.

The fact that Allah forgives those who repent is a sign of His great mercy. It is also a sign of His justice.

Allah Almighty would not have created us with the ability to sin if He did not also intend for us to be able to repent.

If you repent sincerely, Allah will forgive you. He is the Most Kind and Merciful, and He loves those who repent.

Allah says:

{يَـٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا‌ۚ إِنَّهُ ۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ}

(Interpretation of the meaning) “O My servants who have transgressed against their souls! Do not despair of Allah’s mercy, for Allah forgives all sins. He is Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

[Quran, 39:53]

Allah loves
  • Those who do good (Al-Muhsinin)

Al-muhsinin (the good-doers)refers to those who are perfectly good in their Essence and who do all their actions in the best possible manner, achieving excellence and reaching ultimate perfection.

Allah Almighty provides us with many opportunities to do good. We can be kind to others, feed the hungry, spread peace, forgive those who wrong us, and even respond with kind words.

Al-Ihsaan (doing good) is a complete way of life. It means doing good in all aspects of our lives, in our relationship with Allah, and our relationships with others.

We should strive for Ihsaan in our worship of Allah. And also strive for Ihsaan in our behavior toward others.

We should be kind to our parents, relatives, and the poor. When we do good, we follow the instructions of Allah.

Allah says:

{وَأَنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ ۛ وَأَحْسِنُوا ۛ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِين}

(Interpretation of the meaning) “And spend in the cause of Allah, and do not contribute to your own ruin, and be charitable. Allah loves the charitable.”

[Quran, 2:195]

Allah loves
  • Those who are patient (As-Sabirin)

Patience is the ability to control one’s emotions and actions in the face of adversity.

It is the ability to wait without becoming upset or frustrated. Patience is a virtue because it allows us to persevere in difficult situations and achieve our goals.

People who love Allah find it easier to be patient because they believe that everything that happens is from Allah.

They know that there is a reason for everything, even if they don’t understand it. They also want to please Allah, so they try to be patient in all situations.

If we are patient, we will reap many rewards, both in this life and hereafter.

Allah says:

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ}

(interpretation of the meaning) “O you who believe! Seek help through patience and prayers. Allah is with the patient.”

[Quran, 2:153]

These are some of the types of people Allah Almighty loves the most.

By embodying these qualities in our lives, we can please Allah and earn His pleasure.

We can also make the world a better place, bringing peace and harmony into it.

Greetings, dear supporters of Muslim Voice for Peace

We are delighted to share some thrilling updates and insights into our recent endeavors, which have been made possible through our team members’ hard work and dedication.

1. A Unique Event with Dr. Khalila:

In a memorable event, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Khalila, the esteemed wife of the legendary Muhammad Ali.

Dr. Khalila is a motivational speaker, appearing at mosques, colleges, and universities.

Dr. Khalila shared her remarkable insights, personal experiences, and the enduring values that defined the life of one of the greatest sports icons and American Muslim figures in history.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali, a proud Muslim, served as a powerful reminder of the contributions and influence of American Muslims throughout history.

Through her powerful words, we learned about the man behind the iconic boxer, a man of deep faith, courage, and conviction.

Dr. Khalila’s stories inspired us to be better people and to strive to make a difference in the world, just as Muhammad Ali did.

Muhammad Ali

2. Muhammad Ali’s Priceless Autograph:

The highlight of our event was an extraordinary gift – an autograph from Muhammad Ali himself. This iconic piece has been generously donated to us and was up for auction.

The best part? All proceeds from the auction went directly towards supporting our efforts.

We had the privilege of embarking on a unique journey with Dr. Khalila in the DMV area, encompassing Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

It is a region rich in history, diversity, and cultural experiences, focusing on exploring the Islamic centers that serve as a vital hub for the Muslim community.

Each Islamic center has a unique architectural and aesthetic charm, creating a serene atmosphere conducive to Islamic reflection and connection.

As we reflect on the achievements of 2023, we are filled with gratitude for the continued support of our members and partners.

With your dedication and commitment, we can make the progress that we have.

Muhammad Ali

Our journey to promote peace, unity, and understanding is ongoing, and we remain committed to making a lasting impact on the world.

We look forward to another year of meaningful initiatives and collaborations that will bring us closer to our vision of impacting one billion individuals through 30,000 of our students.

Our vision is not only about numbers but the deep-rooted belief that every individual has the potential to create a meaningful impact, and through collective efforts, we can achieve a brighter, more inclusive, and prosperous future for humanity.

Muhammad Ali

Thank you for being a part of the Muslim Voice for Peace community. We are all united in our shared vision of a brighter future where peace, unity, and understanding reign supreme. We can make a difference in the world, one step at a time.

The 99 names of Allah are beautiful names that represent the attributes of Allah Almighty. These names are a way to understand and appreciate Allah’s greatness.

Each name has a distinct meaning, such as “The Most Merciful” or “The Creator.” Muslims can recite these names daily to ask for blessings, protection, and guidance.

Counting them by contemplating the meanings and considering the meanings while memorizing them because of the great goodness and useful knowledge in this, and because this is one of the reasons for the righteousness of the heart, the perfection of its fear of God, and the fulfillment of His rights.

Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, said, “Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one; and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise.” To count something means to know it by heart.

There are many ways to know Allah. One way is to learn about his beautiful names and attributes.

When we learn about Allah’s names and attributes, we know Him better. This deepens our faith and strengthens our connection with Him.

Muslims need to seek knowledge about Allah actively. We can do this by reading the Quran, studying the hadith, and listening to lectures by scholars.

The more we know about Allah, the closer we will become to Him. And the closer we are to Him, the happier and more fulfilled we will be in this life and the Hereafter.

Our relationship with Allah is strengthened by Islam’s teachings that explain what we should believe and how we should act upon these beliefs.

Eman (Faith) is the foundation of Islam. The word means acceptance of all the religious beliefs which are part of the Islamic faith.

As Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said:

Narrated Abu Huraira: One day while the Prophet, peace be upon him, was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked, “What is faith?” Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, replied: ‘Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His Prophets, Belief in the Revealed Scriptures, Belief in the Messengers, and to believe in Resurrection.”

[Sahih al-Bukhari 50]

As one of the main foundations of Islam, the six pillars of Eman (faith) are examined in this article:

1. Belief in the Oneness of God (Tawheed):

The first pillar of faith in Islam is to believe in Allah, the one and only God. Allah created the universe and everything in it.

He knows everything and can do anything. He is merciful and forgiving.

The most essential teaching in Islam is that Allah should be worshipped alone. And it is shirk (polytheism) to worship anyone or anything else (prophets, saints, people, statues, pictures, animals).

A true believer in Islam believes that there is only one God, Allah, and that Muhammad is his prophet.

And also believe that Allah is eternal and has always existed. He is also all-knowing and present everywhere.

Allah Says:

{وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الإِنْسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ}

(interpretation of the meaning) And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge)

[Quran, 50:16]

Islamic faith

2.Belief in the Angels of God (Malaika):

Muslims believe Allah uses angels to communicate his messages to humanity. Angels are created from light.

Angels have no free will; they only obey Allah. Examples of the angels are Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him, Israfil (the angel who blows the trumpet to signal Qiyamah) the day of judgment, Maalik (the angel who administrates the Hellfire), etc.

Islamic faith

3.Belief in the Books (Revelations) of God (kutub):

Muslims believe that Allah revealed his laws to humans gradually through his prophets.

Muslims believe in the original Torah given to Moses, peace be upon him, Psalms given to David, peace be upon him, and the Gospel given to Jesus, peace be upon him, as holy books because they believe Allah revealed them to his prophets.

Allah says:

(interpretation of the meaning) Say (O Muslims), “We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma’il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya’qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya’qub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and ‘Iesa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam).”

[Quran, 2:136]

The Quran is the final and most authentic revelation because it contains the perfection of the previous prophets’ teachings.

It is considered the final revelation because it is believed to be the literal word of Allah, and it is not subject to change.

It is also believed to be the most complete and perfect revelation because it contains guidance for all people of all time, unlike previous scriptures sent to specific people and times.

Allah Says:

{الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا}

(interpretation of the meaning) This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favor on you and chosen Islam as a religion.

[Quran, 5:3]

Islamic faith

4.Belief in the Prophets or Messengers of God (Anbiya):

Allah Almighty chose people, not angels or other supernatural entities, to serve as messengers.

These chosen messengers are ordinary people who can empathize with others and comprehend their struggles.

The messengers of Allah educate people on how to lead a righteous life, emphasizing the significance of kindness, honesty, and helpfulness.

They also stress the importance of obeying Allah’s instructions.

Prophet Muhammed’s message applies to all people, regardless of their ethnic background, faith, or citizenship.

He was dispatched to all of humankind, not just a particular group.

The life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was filled with great success.

He displayed exceptional moral qualities, spiritual power, unyielding determination, and teachings of excellence and perfection.

Allah says:

{وَمَنْ لَمْ يُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَإِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَعِيرًا}

(interpretation of the meaning) And whosoever does not believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), then verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers a blazing Fire.

[Quran, 48:13]

Islamic faith

5.Belief in the Day of Judgment (Akhirah):

In the Holy Quran, the belief in the Day of Judgment is widely emphasized. Islam teaches that physical death is not the end of our existence but rather a gateway to a higher form of life that can bring us closer to Allah, depending on our actions in this life.

The Holy Quran states that on the Day of Judgment, the universe as we know it will end, and the deceased will be resurrected.

Their actions will be evaluated, and they receive rewards or punishments accordingly.

Those who have obeyed Allah will be granted Heaven, while those with immoral deeds will face punishment in Hell.

6. Belief in the Divine Decree (Al-Qadr):

The Islamic faith holds that God, as the Sustainer of all life, has complete knowledge and control over everything that occurs.

However, this does not negate the concept of free will.

Instead, God does not force individuals to act in a certain way; their choices are known to Him beforehand due to His omniscience.

This can be comforting during difficult times because it means God is with us and knows what we are going through.

Accordingly, the six articles of Islamic faith are essential beliefs for Muslims that shape their worldview and practices.

These beliefs help us understand life’s purpose, nature, and the relationship between God and humanity.

Muslims are committed to following these beliefs and their ultimate purpose of worshiping and pleasing Allah by adhering to them.

The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is the best example to follow. His daily habits brought spiritual benefits and physical advantages. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, says:

{لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ}

[Quran; 33:21]

(Interpretation of the meaning) “Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad peace be upon him) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much”

A factor contributing to a person not maintaining good health is a lack of knowledge of the simple healthy habits that can be implemented in his life.

Here are five things to learn from Prophet Muhammad’s, peace be upon him, healthy habits:

  1. Eating Slowly

One of the most critical things Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, taught us about health and fitness is the importance of eating slowly.

Many of us are guilty of scarfing down our meals quickly, especially if we’re in a hurry or distracted by work or technology.

However, eating quickly can lead to many health problems, including weight gain, poor digestion, and even heart disease.

Why is consuming food slowly important? One reason is that it allows your body to digest the food you’ve eaten effectively.

When you eat too quickly, your body doesn’t have time to produce enough digestive enzymes to break down the food properly.

This can lead to bloating, gas, and other digestive discomforts.

Eating slowly also helps you feel fuller faster, which can be a big help if you’re trying to lose weight. When you take your time to chew each bite and savor the flavors,

your brain has time to register that you’re full. You’ll end up eating less without feeling deprived.

  1. Fasting

Fasting has been proven to balance hormone levels, prevent oxidative stress, and reduce overall inflammation.

Fasting was a regular practice of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, not just during Ramadan.

He would fast every Monday and Thursday and also on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each lunar month.

Abu Hurairah narrated, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays. It was said:

“O Messenger of Allah, why do you fast on Mondays and Thursdays?” He said: “On Mondays and Thursdays, Allah forgives every Muslim except two who have forsaken one another. He says: ‘Leave these two until they reconcile.’”

[Ibn Majah 1740]

  1.  Eating a date when breaking the fast

Extended hours of not eating and drinking can deplete the body of glucose, the body’s primary energy source.

Breaking the fast with a date quickly and efficiently replenishes the body’s glucose reserves.

Narrated Anas bin Malik, “The Prophet, peace be upon him, used to break his fast before offering evening prayer with some fresh dates.”

In case dates are not available, it is strongly advised to drink water, which helps to combat the dehydration caused by a fast.

Healthy Habits
  1. Early Riser

It was narrated from Sakhr Al-Ghamidi that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

“O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings (i.e., what they do early in the morning).” (Hasan) He said: “When he sent out a raiding party or an army, he would send them at the beginning of the day.”

He said: (1) “Sakhr was a man engaged in trade, and he used to send his goods out at the beginning of the day, and his wealth grew and increased.”

[Ibn Majah]

The Prophet, peace be upon him, prayed to Allah to bless those who work in the early hours of the day.

Therefore, if you aim to become wealthy, it is recommended to begin working early.

According to the narration of Sakhr, May Allah be pleased with him, who was a merchant, he used to dispatch his merchandise at the start of the day, which led to the success and prosperity of his business.

Healthy Habits
  1.  Taking a nap in the afternoon (Qaylulah)

Qaylulah (napping) is a Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, he would do it before noon or afternoon.

This sleep is part of the Sunnah since it allows a person to rise at night to pray.

Also, in the Arabian Peninsula, to rest from work at noon when it is intensely hot is the custom of the people and of the area, so it has further strengthened this practice of the Prophet.

Healthy Habits
  1. Eat Moderately

The prophet, peace be upon him, said: ”A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one-third of food, drink, and air.”

[Ibn Majah 3349]

Eating balanced meals and being moderate with our diets is one of the best ways to achieve good health.

This particular hadith mentions not overeating during our meals, which is the number one culprit of the “food coma” and negative health issues.

If you are feeling tired and full after eating, it is a sign that your meals are not balanced and that you must change how you eat.

Healthy Habits

Amazingly, Islam has always promoted good healthy habits, even long before scientific research mentioned them.

The lifestyle of the prophet, peace be upon him, is filled with many blessings and wisdom, especially regarding health and well-being.

The best thing is that we can practice these healthy habits while reaping the rewards of following the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

During Salah (prayer), many Muslims may unknowingly make mistakes. Salah is a crucial pillar of Islam and should be performed with great care and precision.

Allah Almighty has made Salah mandatory for all Muslims, who are required to pray five times a day and strive to do so perfectly, as it will be evaluated on the day of Resurrection.

Salah is a ritual prayer that has specific recommended conditions that must be met. However, we sometimes perform Salah out of habit or routine and must remember its fundamental essence, resulting in mistakes during prayer.

While offering Salah, many of us (Muslims) do not realize the mistakes we make in offering Salah. These are some of the 8 most common mistakes in prayer that we need to stop doing immediately:

  1. Delaying the Salah (Prayer) Intentionally:

One of the most prevalent mistakes made is being caught up in our daily tasks and then delaying our prayer from its preferred time. The Quran emphasizes the importance of protecting our Salah.

Muslims are not allowed to purposefully postpone a prayer until its designated time has passed. Anyone who does so without a valid reason is seen as forsaking the prayer, which is as sinful as breaking sacred rules and exceeding boundaries.

This remains true even if the prayer is performed after its designated time has elapsed.

{حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَىٰ وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ}

(Interpretation of the meaning): [Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawat (the prayers), especially the middle Salat (i.e., the best prayer – ‘Asr). And stand before Allah with obedience [and do not speak to others during the Salat (prayers)]

[Quran; 2:238]

  1. Performing the Salah (Prayer) Hastily:

Performing Rukoo'(bowing) or Sujood (prostration) is an essential aspect of Salat. It is crucial to perform these positions accurately by bowing and prostrating slowly.

Rushing through these movements or failing to meet their requirements may result in an invalid rakaa (portion of prayer) or prayer.

Abdullah ibn Mughafal reported the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

“Verily, the worst thieves among people are those who steal from their prayers.” It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, how do they steal from their prayers?” The Prophet said, “They do not complete its bowing or prostration. The most miserly of people are those who are miserly with the greeting of peace.”

[Ibn Hibbaan]

  1. Moving Around Too Much:

It is widely agreed among scholars that engaging in excessive and continuous movement can nullify one’s prayer.

Whether such movements are disliked or prohibited, they undoubtedly serve as distractions during prayer and can diminish one’s Khushoo’ (Concentration).

When performing the prayer, it is important to remember that you are standing before Allah. This understanding will place you in a humble, respectful, and devoted state of mind, magnifying His presence through your stillness and dignity.

Your heart should be fully engaged as you perform the prayer with attention to its boundaries and requirements.

Salah
  1. Gazing During the Prayer:

It is important to keep one’s eyes fixed on the place of sujood (prostration) during prayer and avoid looking around. This helps to maintain concentration and avoid distractions.

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, cautioned against looking up during prayer and advised against this practice.

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said:

“How is it that some people raise their eyes towards the sky during Salah (the prayer)?” He stressed (this point) and added, “People must refrain from raising their eyes towards heaven in Salah (prayer), or else their sights will certainly be snatched away.”

[Sahih Bukhari]

  1. Reciting the Holy Quran Fast in the Prayers:

The Sunnah is for the one who is reciting to recite at a measured pace (tarteel) and not to rush so that he may ponder and think about what he is reciting, whether it is al-Faatihah or something else.

The Sunnah is to ponder, think, and recite at a measured pace, not to rush. Allah Almighty says:

{أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلاً }

(Interpretation of the meaning): “And recite the Qur’an (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style”

[Quran; 73:4]

  1. Preceding the Imam:

During a congregational prayer, the Imam is the leader and should be followed by everyone behind him.

It is important to avoid contesting with the Imam during prayer and wait for him to do the Rukoo’ or Sujood, and then you do it after him.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

“The imam is appointed to be followed: so when he says the Takbeer, say the Takbeer; when he bows down for Rukoo‘ (the bowing), bow down for Rukoo‘; when he stands up from the Rukoo, ‘stand up from it; when he says: Sami‘Allahu liman hamidah (Allah listens to who praises Him), say: Rabanna lak-al-hamd (Our Lord, to you is Praise); and when he performs the Sujood (prostration), perform Sujood.”

[Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]

Salah
  1. Performing Sujood Improperly:

One common mistake during prayers is resting only the tip of the head on the floor during Sujood.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, advised that seven bones must touch the ground during the Sujood: The face (forehead and nose), two hands, two knees, and two feet.

Therefore, lifting the feet into the air during prostration will invalidate the prayer.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

“I was commanded to prostrate myself on the seven (bones) and forbidden to fold back hair and clothing. (The seven bones are): forehead, nose, hands, knees, and feet.”

[Muslim]

  1. Crossing in Front of a Person Offering Salah:

If you pass in front of someone praying, in the area between the spot where he puts his forehead when he prostrates and where he stands, this is haram (forbidden).

Abu Juhaim, may Allah be pleased with him said: the Prophet, peace be upon him said:

“If the person passing in front of someone praying knew the extent of the guilt he is incurring, he would prefer to stand for forty rather than pass in front of him.”

Abu An-Nadr said: “I am not sure if he said forty days, months, or years.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Salah

As we come to a close, prayer demands our utmost attention due to its specificity. Through prayer, we can connect with Allah Almighty and elevate our souls.

By learning from the common mistakes mentioned earlier and seeking forgiveness from Allah, we can improve our prayer practice.

Let us pray that Allah accepts our efforts and good deeds, so we may not be among the losers on the Day of Judgement. Ameen.

Surah Al-Kahf is a highly significant surah(chapter) in the Quran, consisting of 110 verses and the 18th surah.

The surah covers various topics, including the tale of the people of the cave, the narrative of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him,  Khidr, peace be upon him, the story of Prophet Dhul-Qarnayn, and the story of the wealthy and poor neighbors.

This surah offers many vital teachings and stories, emphasizing the significance of faith, patience, and the power of Allah Almighty.

Surah Al-Kahf is also recognized for its protective abilities. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said that whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Friday would receive a light from Allah that would guide them from one Friday to the next.

When to Read Surah Al-Kahf on Friday?

Surah Al-Kahf can be read either during the night (The night of Jumu’ah is the night that precedes the day of Jumu’ah and not the one that supersedes it) or on the day of Jumu’ah

The night of Jumu’ah begins at sunset on Thursday, and the day of Jumu’ah ends at sunset on Friday. Therefore, one can read this surah from sunset on Thursday until sunset on Friday.

Al-Barā’ ibn ‘Āzib, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: While a man was reciting Surah al-Kahf, with his horse tied with two ropes beside him, a cloud overshadowed him.

As it began to come nearer and nearer, the horse started to trample violently. In the morning, the man went to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and narrated the incident. He said: “That was tranquility which descended by virtue of the Qur’an’s recitation.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Importance of Surah Al-Kahf

Surah Al-Kahf is the 18th Surah of the Quran, and it tells the story of the believers of ancient times who, upon hearing the message of truth, accepted it.

Yet, they were to face retribution from their society, so they fled and sought protection in a cave where Allah Almighty gave them a sleep that lasted for centuries. By then, their entire city had converted to Islam.

Through this Surah, we learn that those who believe in Allah and ask for His protection are given protection unmatched by anything else.

The Virtues of Surah Al-Kahf

  • Protection From the Evil Of Dajjal

Al Dajjal(anti-Christ) is well-known for the chaos and destruction he will bring to humanity. Sadly, many who lack faith may be swayed by his influence.

Those who remain steadfast in their belief may turn to Allah Almighty for protection from his destruction.

Reciting the first and last ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf offer powerful protection against Dajjal’s influence – a crucial benefit for those seeking to stay safe and guided.

Abu Darda’ reported Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, as saying: “If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of the Surah Al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal.”

(Muslim)

  • Strengthens Your Faith

Surah Al-Kahf is beneficial in strengthening faith. It contains stories highlighting the importance of strong faith and how following Allah’s path leads to His help.

Understanding the stories provides wisdom.

The surah includes tales of:

  • The Story of the people of the cave – A Trial of Faith.
  • The Story of the Man Who Owns Two Gardens – A Trial of Wealth.
  • The Story of Prophet Moses and Al-Khidr – A Trail of Knowledge.
  • The Story of the Dhul Qarnayn (A Righteous King) – A Trial of Power.
Surah Al-Kahf
  • Light for the Muslims

Shine for him from the light between the two Fridays.” And this light is cast by God in the reader’s heart, or in his sight, or insight, or in all his conditions, or it is a light that ascends for him with his deeds to the sky, or the angels watch him.

Or a light will shine for him in the Hereafter, in addition to others on the Day of Resurrection, and this light will remain in this sense throughout the week from Friday to Friday.

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine for him between this Friday and the next.”

[al-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Bayhaqi]

  • Way Towards Forgiveness

As humans, we are all prone to making mistakes and imperfections. However, we must learn from our errors and seek forgiveness from Allah.

Allah is Most Merciful, and He forgives those who sincerely repent and strive never to repeat their mistakes.

Our ultimate purpose in this world is to seek Allah’s pleasure, which should be our top priority.

Friday is an opportune time to seek forgiveness from Allah by reciting Surah Al-Kahf and asking for forgiveness for all our wrongdoings.

Reading Surah Al-Kahf on Friday is a virtuous act that has many benefits. It is a means of protection from the trials and tribulations of the Dajjal, it helps to increase one’s faith, and it can help to fulfill one’s wishes and desires.

The surah is one of the most significant surahs in the Quran and contains many important lessons and stories for Muslims.

Surah Al-Kahf

As we endeavor to improve our faith as Muslims, it is recommended that we read Surah Al-Kahf every Friday.

This practice not only fulfills a sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, but also brings us closer to Allah and grants us His blessings and protection.

May Allah guide us all to the righteous path and include us among those who read Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays. Ameen.

The Qur’an invokes the importance of Friday as a sacred day of worship in a chapter called “Al-Jumah,” meaning the day of congregation, which is also the word for Friday in Arabic.

Here, we will discuss why Friday is significant in Islam and provide evidence from the Quran and Sunnah:

1. Friday Prayer

The Friday prayer is offered in the congregation. It is offered in place of the Zuhr prayer. Each week on Friday, Muslims are required to take a bath, dress in their best clean clothes, wear perfume, and assemble in the mosque for Friday prayer.

It consists of a Khutbah(Sermon) and two short prayer cycles. The prayer begins with a call to worshipers, followed by the sermon, and ends with the prayer.

As a Muslim, it is essential to go to Friday prayer. You should try to go even if you have work, study, or other things to do.

But If you have a valid reason for being unable to attend Friday prayer, such as being sick or traveling, then you are not sinning.

However, if you skip Friday prayer without a valid reason, then you are sinning.

Allah says:

{يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِذَا نُوۡدِىَ لِلصَّلَوٰةِ مِنۡ يَّوۡمِ الۡجُمُعَةِ فَاسۡعَوۡا اِلٰى ذِكۡرِ اللّٰهِ وَذَرُوا الۡبَيۡعَ ؕ ذٰلِكُمۡ خَيۡرٌ لَّـكُمۡ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ‏}

(interpretation of the meaning) O believers! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, then proceed ˹diligently˺ to the remembrance of Allah and leave off ˹your˺ business. That is best for you, if only you knew.

[Quran; 62:9]

Although only men are obliged to attend the Friday congregational prayer, men, women, and children can participate in various acts during this day.

Both men and women can participate in various acts on Friday, such as bathing, wearing clean clothes, supplicating, sending blessings on Prophet Muhammad, and reading Surat Al-Kahf.

friday prayer

2. There is an Hour in Which the Supplication is Answered on Friday

It is proven in the Sunnah that on Friday there is an hour of response, during which no Muslim happens to ask Allah for good, but He will give it to him.

The scholars differed on when this hour is, and there are more than forty views, the soundest of which are two. The first view is that it is from when the imam sits down until the end of the prayer, and the second is after ‘Asr.

The latter is the more correct of the two views.

The most likely time is the last hour of the day on Friday, because of the reports narrated by Abu Dawood (1048) from Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullah, from the Messenger of Allah ( peace be upon him), that he said: “Friday is twelve [hours]. There is no Muslim who asks anything of Allah; may He be glorified and exalted, but Allah will grant it to him, so seek it out in the last hour after ‘Asr.”

Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

3. The Day of Judgment Will Take Place on a Friday

Abu Huraira reported the messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, as saying:

The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created. On it he was made to enter Paradise, he was expelled from it. And the last hour will take place on no day other than Friday.

[Sahih Muslim 854b]

Friday in Islam is a special day, but in this hadith, Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, mentions more events that make this day more special.

In this hadith, prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) clearly says that the Day of Judgment will be on a Friday. Which Friday? We can’t know. Allah Almighty knows Best.

friday prayer

4. Friday is the Name of a Surah (Surah Al-Jumu’ah)

This surah is named after the day “Friday ” (the assemblage). The main message of Surah Al-Jumu’ah is that Muslims should attend the Friday prayer and remember Allah often.

The surah also warns us against neglecting our religious duties and being distracted by worldly matters.

The surah begins by praising Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth.

It then reminds us that Allah has sent prophets to all people, including the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was sent to the Arabs.

The surah also talks about the importance of learning and seeking knowledge.

5. Friday is Eid Day for Muslims

Because Friday is similar to Eid for Muslims, it may explain why the Prophet (peace be upon him) encouraged us not to fast on Fridays.

Instead, if you desire to fast on Friday for any reason, you should also fast on Thursday or Saturday:

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet, peace be upon him, say: “No one of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts (a day) before it or after it.”

[Al-Bukhari, Muslim]

friday prayer

To sum up, the significance of Friday in Islam is truly noteworthy. It is a day for communal prayer, forgiveness, and a chance to earn great rewards.

Islam is all about caring for one another and spreading love, affection & mercy. Allah has emphasized taking care of others around you, and Zakat in Islam is one example of that and is one of the five pillars of Islam.

It is one of the core practices and obligations that all Muslims are obliged to fulfill (with some requirements to meet).

Muslims are taught to share their resources and be grateful for whatever Allah has blessed us with, which is a way of understanding the meaning of Zakat.

It is also one way of expressing your devotion to Allah and thanking Him for all the blessings.

This blog will provide all the information you need to comprehend Zakat in Islam.

Why is Zakat Important?

Zakat is a practical approach to creating social harmony among the rich and the poor. A society where the rich and the less fortunate don’t connect and care for each other is very unhappy.

A community where both the rich and the less fortunate are connected by understanding, kindness, and gratitude is a much better and prosperous society.

Therefore, Islam facilitates the circulation of wealth within different segments of society.

Zakat in Islam
  • Helps in Building the Society

The first benefit of Zakat in Islam is that it helps those in a society who are less fortunate.

Suppose one group in society keeps taking all the money and doesn’t share it with others. In that case, the rest will remain in the same difficult situation, and the society will become divided into different groups.

So, when rich people in society give Zakat, it means that those who are not wealthy are given an opportunity to have a better life.

  • Circulation of Money

The second thing Zakat brings to the table about it being an obligation is that it leads to the circulation of money in a society.

Thus, this way the money gets out of the circle of a few people and circulates in the whole economy.

  • Develops a Sense of Sacrificing

Thirdly, Zakat also teaches the message of sacrifice. Wealth is one of the major elements that people love the most.

Therefore, when a person gives from their wealth, it means that they love the order of Allah Almighty more than their liking, and it means they are willing to sacrifice the thing they love for the sake of Allah the Almighty.

Misconceptions About Zakat:

A large number of Muslims today have many wrong ideas about Zakat. We will briefly talk about 5 of the most common misconceptions about this subject:

  1. Zakat is given only during Ramadan

Many Muslims choose to give zakat in the month of Ramadan only because they are aware that good deeds in this particular month will provide them with more rewards. However, it is optional/obligatory to give zakat exclusively during Ramadan.

  1. Zakat purifies illegal or haram wealth

Zakat isn’t valid for money earned through haram (forbidden) means as it doesn’t belong to the person who owns it.

One of the conditions of Zakat is that the wealth should belong to the person himself.

  1. Zakat is on gold only

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen said: “Zakat must be paid on jewelry if it reaches the nisab (minimum threshold), which is 85 grams.

If it reaches this amount, Zakat must be paid for it. If she has other wealth and pays from that, there is nothing wrong with it.

If her husband or one of her relatives pays it on her behalf, there is nothing wrong with that.

If neither of these options is available to her, then she should sell some of it and pay Zakat with that money.”

  1. The husband is obligated to pay zakat on the wife’s gold

It is not the husband’s duty to pay Zakat for his wife’s jewelry, wealth, etc. Rather, it is her responsibility since she is the possessor of the wealth. If her husband or someone else pays her Zakat using her possessions on her behalf and with her permission, that is okay, and he will be rewarded for this voluntary action.

  1. Zakat cannot be given to poor relatives

Zakat can be given to relatives who fall under the Zakat requirements. A person should give their Zakat to a brother, sister, paternal uncle, paternal aunt, or any other relative if they are poor except those whom he’s financially responsible for (father, mother, grandparents, kids).

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

“Charity given to the poor is charity, and charity given to a relative is charity and upholding of family ties.”

(Ahmad, al-Nasaa’i)

Who is eligible for Zakat in Islam?

Eight kinds of people may receive Zakat payments. These include the following:

  1. The poor, meaning low-income or disadvantaged. (al-fuqarâ’)
  2. The needy meaning someone who is in difficulty. (al-masâkîn)
  3. Zakat administrators. (amil)
  4. Those whose hearts are to be reconciled, meaning new Muslims and friends of the Muslim community. (muallafati qulubuhum)
  5. Captives and slaves. (riqab
  6. The debt-ridden. (gharimin)
  7. In the cause of Allah. (fi sabillilah)
  8. The wanderer meaning those who are stranded or traveling with few resources. (ibnus sabil)

Zakat Calculation Formula

  • Total up all your sources of income:

Tally up all the assets that you have owned for the past year. This includes:

Cash + Gold & Silver + Debts Owed to You + Investment Property + Shares & Stocks + Investment & Saving Funds + Business Assets = Your Total Income

  • Total up your immediate needs and living expenses

This includes:

Personal & Living Expenses + Debts You Owe + Business Expenses= Your Living Expenses

  • Find out your total Zakatable Wealth

Your Total Income – Your Living Expenses = Your Zakatable Wealth

  • Check if it’s above the threshold for Nisab

Whether you decide to go with the gold or silver value for Nisab, determine the current cash value of your Nisab threshold.

If your Zakatable Wealth exceeds the Nisab threshold, you can move on to the next step!

  • Calculate how much Zakat you have to pay:

Your Zakatable Wealth x 2.5% = Total Zakat You Owe for the Year

Nisab for Zakat 2023

You can calculate the Nisab value yourself daily by knowing the price of a gram of gold and applying the following equation:

Gold price per gram in US$ × 85 grams = Nisab value.

Example: Suppose that the price of a gram of gold today is $60, so:

$60 × 85 = $5,100.

In a nutshell, Zakat is a mandatory duty of a Muslim, and the objective is to help society share the bounties of Allah and give a chance to the unfortunate ones to have a better life.

Therefore, every Muslim must learn about Zakat and ensure it is paid to deserving people.

You can transform lives now and for eternity by fulfilling your Zakat obligations.

Pay Zakat to those who deserve it.
